Our Own Voice Theater, a local experimental theater troupe working to empower people marginalized by mental illness, is holding auditions for our new show this weekend!
The show is called Shrink and will run at TheatreWorks April 27-May 12. The name might give you an idea of the theme (body-image and the different ways in which we might expand into the Self we're meant to be). But as all OOV productions, the play will be generated from the performers' participation. It will be written in collaboration by Kimberly Baker, Managing Director of OOV and Valentine Leonard, Founding Director of MeWE (the Memphis Writers Ensemble).
No prior theater or movement experience is needed, although the desire to act, play and/or move is. Dancers, actors, seekers are all welcome. Rehearsals will happen most weekends (Saturday and Sunday afternoon) between now and the show's opening on April 28, so you might want to make sure that you can make yourself available at those times.
If you have questions you may email Kimberly at KTU2LIE@aol.com and place Shrink in the subject line.
Please come to Shady Grove Presbyterian Church on Sat 2/18 at 2pm and/or Sun 2/19 at 1pm for
auditions and a taste of the journey SHRINK may take us on!
