Subject:"Shrink" opens April 27th
Time:07:39 pm
Join Our Own Voice Theatre Troupe for the world premiere of Shrink. This new play was written by Valentine Leonard with the Ensemble and was directed by Kimberly Baker. It plays at TheatreWorks at 2085 Monroe in Overton Square. Shows are on Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm from April 27-May 12.

Mental health professionals are commonly referred to as "shrinks", but the goal of therapy is really to let the client expand into their true nature in order to move toward healing. Shrink attempts to demystify the therapeutic process especially for those who are reluctant to seek professional help. This play explores different ways that we can become whole on the journey of self discovery.

To make reservations call 901-274-1000. For more information about Shrink or Our Own Voice Theatre Troupe visit www.ourownvoice.org

Subject:Auditions for "Shrink" Feb. 18-19
Time:08:12 pm
Our Own Voice Theater, a local experimental theater troupe working to empower people marginalized by mental illness, is holding auditions for our new show this weekend!

The show is called Shrink and will run at TheatreWorks April 27-May 12. The name might give you an idea of the theme (body-image and the different ways in which we might expand into the Self we're meant to be). But as all OOV productions, the play will be generated from the performers' participation. It will be written in collaboration by Kimberly Baker, Managing Director of OOV and Valentine Leonard, Founding Director of MeWE (the Memphis Writers Ensemble).

No prior theater or movement experience is needed, although the desire to act, play and/or move is. Dancers, actors, seekers are all welcome. Rehearsals will happen most weekends (Saturday and Sunday afternoon) between now and the show's opening on April 28, so you might want to make sure that you can make yourself available at those times.

If you have questions you may email Kimberly at KTU2LIE@aol.com and place Shrink in the subject line.

Please come to Shady Grove Presbyterian Church on Sat 2/18 at 2pm and/or Sun 2/19 at 1pm for
auditions and a taste of the journey SHRINK may take us on!

Subject:Help wanted for "Ephemera Too" lobby display
Time:10:14 am
We're looking for a volunteer to create a lobby display for the run of Ephemera Too, Sept. 24 through Oct. 10. We would like to have a retrospective of the past twenty years of our company, with posters, photos, articles, etc. with perhaps an emphasis on the past ten. (We did something similar for the tenth and fifteenth seasons) Most materials could be pulled down from the website, and there are dozens of posters, articles, etc, in the OOV office at Theatreworks, although they may be somewhat worse for wear. Some of you may have some useful memorabilia in your own possession. Anyway, we need someone with the time and energy to pull something together over the next three weeks. Please contact Bill or Kimberly if you are willing to undertake or assist with this. bbktb@aol.com or ktu2lie@aol.com.
